WHAT IS GLYCEROL MONOSTEARATE?
In its purest form, GLYCEROL is a type of liquid alcohol which is found in the diet, as a component of fat or triglycerides. It is one of the most common alcohols found in human metabolism, and it primarily serves as the core onto which fatty acid molecules are attached.
WHAT DOES IT DO?
For trainers, GLYCEROL MONOSTEARATE may be useful for “hyper-hydrating” the body, by potentially increasing the total volume of blood and thus helping delay dehydration. This is known as “Glycerol Hyperhydration”.
Studies have shown that following Glycerol consumption (with adequate water intake), total heart rate and overall core body temperature were lower during exercise in high heat conditions. This suggests that supplementation with Glycerol prior to training or an endurance event, may lead to an increase in performance by delaying dehydration and exhaustion.
GLYCEROL MONOSTEARATE may also be beneficial for bodybuilders as a means of increasing vascularization and reducing subcutaneous (under the skin) bloat. Glycerol is absorbed into the bloodstream, and since it ‘sucks in’ water, it also increases the volume of blood in the veins, leading to a more vascular appearance.
